Kinetry vs Predictive Index

The Predictive Index and Kinetry solve overlapping problems in structurally different ways. This page says where Predictive Index is stronger, where the two genuinely differ, and what each claim is based on — checked against public materials on August 13, 2026.

What Predictive Index is

The Predictive Index is a talent-optimization platform built on a trait assessment with a 70-year scientific pedigree: the Behavioral Assessment maps who someone is (drives and needs), powering hiring fit, team design, and manager guidance — including the Relationship Guide, a per-pair report built from two people's trait patterns.

Where Predictive Index is stronger

Said first, because a comparison that skips this isn't one.

  • Validation depth: the Behavioral Assessment has been in commercial use since 1955, with hundreds of criterion-related validity studies and population-scale norms. For trait measurement, Kinetry offers nothing comparable and doesn't try.
  • Compliance: SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. Kinetry holds neither today.
  • Partner network and reach: 700+ certified partners, the assessment available in ~68 languages, and a broad ATS/HCM integration catalog. G2 profile around 4.7 with roughly 700 reviews (third-party count, Aug 2026).
  • Hiring: end-to-end hiring tools (job targeting, cognitive assessment, interview guides) — a use case Kinetry does not address at all.

The structural differences

A snapshot of who you are vs a trend of what you do
Predictive Index

The Behavioral Assessment is taken once — PI's own guidance is that it should not be retaken on a schedule, because traits are stable. Recurring surveys exist for engagement sentiment, not behavior.

Kinetry

Behavior is re-scored every cycle by the people who observe it. The premise is the opposite: what people do changes, and the instrument exists to measure the change.

The pair artifact
Predictive Index

The Relationship Guide is a real per-pair artifact — and it is built from two static trait patterns, so it only changes if someone retakes the assessment.

Kinetry

The Pair Reading is built from observed behavior and re-renders every scored cycle, dated to the cycle it describes. Two people's Reading in March and their Reading in August can differ, because they worked differently.

Coaching to outcome
Predictive Index

Obi, PI's AI assistant (open beta June 2026), generates coaching guidance grounded in the static trait profile. PI's public materials describe no commitment tracking and no attribution of coaching to later measured change.

Kinetry

Commitments are recorded against specific behaviors and the Kept-Commitment Method reports how those exact behaviors moved — preceded, never caused, floors published.

How you buy
Predictive Index

Annual subscription sized to company headcount, starting at $10,000/year for the entry tier as published.

Kinetry

Free for a leader plus 5 rated people, then monthly per-rated-seat billing. A consultant runs a client on Kinetry for a fraction of a PI license — the arithmetic is on the partners page.

Pricing, as published

As of August 2026, PI's plans page lists three tiers: Talent "starts at $10,000/year" (scaling with headcount), with Performance and Engagement custom-priced; all tiers are annual subscriptions with unlimited assessments and no per-seat fees. No monthly option; no free platform tier (a free individual Behavioral Assessment is offered to individuals).

Kinetry: free for a leader plus 5 rated people, then $12/rated person/mo (Team, no seat minimum) or $19 (Business, 10-seat minimum), billed truly monthly — raters are always free. Full detail on the pricing page.

Recent Predictive Index changes worth knowing
  • Since July 2026: PI's release notes show hiring-workflow and admin tooling only. The watch item is Obi (AI assistant, open beta since June 2026) — coaching prose from static traits today, and the most likely vector if PI ever moves toward recurring measurement.
Running Kinetry — instead, or alongside
  • PI and Kinetry measure different things — traits vs observed behavior — and some advisors run both: PI for hiring fit, Kinetry for the monthly behavior loop after the hire.
  • For PI Certified Partners specifically: Kinetry's Partner tier ($99/mo flat) plus per-client workspaces is the consultant path; client seats bill monthly to the client, not annually to the practitioner.

The wider review this page sits on: in July, 2026 Kinetry reviewed 23 comparable products claim by claim from their public documentation. As of that dated review, none of the 23 offered a recurring single-assessor mode; none offered in-product commitment attribution connecting kept commitments to later score movement (the Kept-Commitment Method) — four had partial elements; and only one offered true month-to-month billing.
